The Allied Peoples Movement has won all 20 chairmanship positions contested in Monday’s local government elections in Bauchi State.

The results were announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission after the completion of voting, counting, collation and verification across the state.
Chairperson of the commission, Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar, declared the 20 APM candidates winners of their respective local government chairmanship elections.
The results gave the party control of all the local government councils contested in the election.
APM also secured 319 of the 323 councillorship seats contested across the state.
The remaining four councillorship positions were won by candidates of the Social Democratic Party, National Rescue Movement, Zenith Labour Party and Young Progressives Party.
In Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bappah Aliyu Mohammed emerged as chairman with 107,482 votes, while Umar Mohammed Aliyu won the Bauchi Local Government Area chairmanship with 125,170 votes.
The electoral commission congratulated the successful candidates and the people of Bauchi State following the conclusion of the election.
With the results, APM has secured control of all 20 local government councils in the state, while opposition parties managed to win only four councillorship positions.
The outcome gives the ruling party a dominant position at the local government level in Bauchi State following the completion of the council elections.
