Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged civil servants to embrace innovation and excellence, stressing the need for improved efficiency and service delivery to residents.

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged participants of the second cohort of the Public Service Accelerator Programme to return to their offices and drive innovation, excellence and improved service delivery.

Sanwo-Olu who gave the charge at the graduation ceremony of the programme, organised by the Ministry of Establishments and Training, said the initiative was designed to build a pool of highly skilled, motivated and innovative public officers capable of transforming the Lagos State Public Service.

The governor urged the one hundred graduates to see their completion of the programme as the beginning of greater responsibility, stressing that their success would be measured by the improvements they introduced in their respective ministries, departments and agencies.

Sanwo-Olu said his administration would continue to invest in human capital, noting that technology, innovation and problem-solving approaches were essential to building a professional and responsive public service that meets the needs of Lagos residents.

The Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr Afolabi Ayantayo, said the programme demonstrated the state government’s commitment to developing a new generation of public servants equipped with leadership skills and practical solutions to emerging challenges.

The Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, said the programme was designed to identify high-potential officers and develop them into a talent pool capable of providing innovative solutions to public service challenges.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Establishments, Mrs Oluwatoyin Atanda, said one hundred participants were selected from about three thousand applicants through assessments and interviews, adding that the initiative was also building a leadership pipeline for the future of the Lagos State Public Service.
