The President also questioned Obi’s ability to manage internal party affairs, saying he could not put his political house in order.
President Bola Tinubu has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, questioning his leadership experience and ability to manage political and national challenges.
Speaking at a political rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, Tinubu appeared to take a swipe at Obi, referencing his tenure as governor of Anambra State and contrasting it with his own record in Lagos.
“In Anambra State, he could not confront erosion. I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, confronted the Atlantic Ocean,” the President said.
He described the move as evidence of a lack of leadership character, asking supporters whether such conduct demonstrated the qualities required of a leader.
The President also questioned Obi’s ability to manage internal party affairs, saying he could not put his political house in order.
“Is that a leadership trait? Is that a leadership character?” Tinubu asked, to which the crowd responded in the negative.
Tinubu, however, called on supporters to back his administration’s agenda, promising to tackle poverty, ignorance and economic regression.
“We will break the circle of poverty, ignorance and economic regression. We will definitely break it,” he said.
