Niger State Governor Umaru Bago has inaugurated a Digital Learning and ICT Centre at Martin Sanda Girls Science College, Paiko, facilitated by Justice Zaynab Bashir of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria.
Speaking during the inauguration, Governor Bago described the project as a commendable intervention and a shining example of corporate social responsibility.
He said the initiative, championed by Justice Bashir, demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing girl-child education, an area that continues to require greater attention and investment.

The governor noted that the project should serve as a challenge and inspiration to other well-meaning individuals and organisations to contribute to the development of Niger State and the nation. He stressed the need for increased support towards promoting quality education for girls.
As part of the visit, Governor Bago inspected newly renovated classroom blocks, also facilitated by Justice Bashir. He directed that the school be fenced and announced that the state government would construct a modern science laboratory and a sports complex to further strengthen science education in the institution.
The governor also urged parents and residents of Paiko to encourage their children to study medicine and other health-related courses, explaining that the government plans to establish a General Hospital in the area where qualified indigenous professionals would have employment opportunities.
He further disclosed that the state’s Ward Development Project remains on course, adding that a commissioner for rural development would soon be appointed to facilitate the release of funds for the continuation of projects across the 25 local government areas of the state.
In her remarks, Justice Zaynab Bashir said Governor Bago’s commitment to excellence and educational development inspired the approval and execution of the project. She noted that the administration’s support for education has encouraged individuals and organisations to make meaningful contributions to society.
Justice Bashir described Bago as a mentor and expressed appreciation for his unwavering support. She said the Digital Learning and ICT Centre reflects the governor’s vision for educational transformation and was conceived out of the belief that education remains one of the most powerful tools for changing lives and empowering future generations.
Also speaking at the event, former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zubairu Dada; Chairman of Paikoro Local Government Council, Aminu Yandai; and the member representing Paikoro Constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly, Umar Nasir, commended Governor Bago for what they described as his transformative developmental projects across Paikoro Local Government Area.
