Federal University Wukari
The Senate of the Federal University Wukari (FUW), Taraba State, has approved a comprehensive ban on all forms of students’ sign-out activities within the university campus and its immediate surroundings.
The decision was reached at the institution’s 76th regular Senate meeting and announced by the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Prof. Benjamin Ate Kefas.
According to the university management, the ban followed the submission of a report by a committee set up to review activities associated with students’ sign-out celebrations.
Prof. Kefas said the directive became necessary to ensure security, safety and the orderly conduct of academic activities within and around the institution.
Consequently, all activities connected with sign-out ceremonies have been prohibited.
The banned activities include the signing of T-shirts and other materials, processions, dancing and celebrations within and outside classroom environments, as well as the movement of groups and convoys within and outside the university campus.
Also prohibited are gatherings and parties around the university gates and along the Katsina-Ala–Jalingo Highway, as well as any activity capable of causing traffic congestion, public disorder or endangering lives and property.
The university further banned the spraying of money and all other forms of passing-out celebrations.
To ensure compliance, school security personnel have been directed to strictly enforce the directive and report any violations for appropriate disciplinary action in line with the university’s rules and regulations.
The Senate called on students, parents, guardians, alumni and the general public to support the implementation of the directive by ensuring full compliance.
