A collision between two vehicles on Monday disrupted the flow of traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident.
There were, however, no confirmed reports of deaths or injuries resulting from the incident.
Motorists and commuters were left stranded for several hours after the multi-vehicle crash involving articulated trucks and several other vehicles caused a major traffic gridlock on the busy expressway.
The accident, which occurred on one of the highways, resulted in long queues of vehicles stretched across the affected section of the expressway.
Eyewitnesses said the collision disrupted the morning rush, forcing many commuters to spend hours in traffic while commercial transport operators and private motorists sought alternative routes to their destinations.
“Emergency response agencies and traffic management officials quickly arrived at the scene to coordinate rescue efforts and remove the damaged vehicles in a bid to restore normal traffic flow,” said Akinbiyi.
