Police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the alleged murder of a 25-year-old in Plateau State. The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the gruesome killing of 25-year-old Ibrahim Mbaya, as investigators intensify efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder and apprehend all those involved.
The latest arrest comes just days after the Command announced the detention of three suspects linked to the incident, which sparked widespread outrage across Plateau State and renewed calls for an end to jungle justice.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed that the breakthrough was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigations by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
“The Plateau State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that, sequel to our earlier press release on the arrest of three suspects in connection with the alleged killing of one Ibrahim Mbaya, a breakthrough has been recorded with the arrest of an additional suspect linked to the incident,” the statement read.
The newly arrested suspect was identified as Tisloh Joshua, whom the police alleged played a role in the killing.
He is currently in custody as detectives continue their investigation.
“Following sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), the Command has arrested one Tisloh Joshua for his involvement in the crime.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody while investigation is ongoing. Efforts have also been intensified to apprehend other suspects who are currently at large,” Alabo stated.
The Command reaffirmed its determination to ensure that every person connected to the killing is identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The Plateau State Police Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensuring that every individual connected with this unfortunate incident is identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law. The Command further assures the family of the deceased and the good people of Plateau State that justice will be diligently pursued,” the statement added.
The police also renewed their condemnation of jungle justice, warning residents against taking the law into their own hands and urging them to allow security agencies to conduct lawful investigations.
“The Command once again condemns all forms of jungle justice and urges members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Citizens are encouraged to promptly report suspected criminal activities to the Police or other relevant security agencies to enable lawful investigation and prosecution,” Alabo stated.
While expressing appreciation for the public’s continued support, the Command appealed to residents to sustain their cooperation by providing credible and timely information that would assist security agencies in preventing crime and strengthening peace and security across Plateau State.
