Belgian club Anderlecht have made a €3.5 million move for Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke, submitting an offer to Sevilla as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The Spanish side are reportedly considering the proposal, with the Super Eagles forward entering the final year of his contract.
Belgian Jupiler Pro League club Anderlecht have made a €3.5m (about N5.5bn) bid for Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke, who is set to leave Sevilla this summer, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Ejuke, 28, has been told he is no longer part of Sevilla’s plans despite having one year left on his contract, with the club willing to sell him for around €3m.
The winger resumed pre-season training with Sevilla but was left out of their squad for their tour of the Netherlands, further indicating that he has no future under coach Gracia Plaza.
According to Spanish outlet Vamos Sevilla, Anderlecht are keen to strengthen their squad as they look to challenge Belgian Pro League rivals Union SG and Club Brugge.
Ejuke already has experience in Belgium, having spent the 2023/24 season at Antwerp, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 29 league appearances.
The Nigerian joined Sevilla from Antwerp on a free transfer two years ago but has managed just three goals and two assists in 52 appearances for the Spanish club.
However, Anderlecht face competition from Saudi Arabian clubs, who are also reportedly interested in Ejuke and could offer him a more lucrative deal. With the transfer window still open, the Belgian club’s €3.5m offer could be the first major step towards the winger’s next move.
