Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the state has executed projects worth ₦90 billion without resorting to borrowing, while also investing in vocational education, healthcare infrastructure and a 10,000-hectare rice farm.

Governor Abdullahi Sule has disclosed that Nasarawa State’s monthly federal allocation has risen to between ₦14 billion and ₦16 billion, up from a pre-2023 average of ₦3.8 billion to ₦4.5 billion, crediting the increase to President Bola Tinubu’s subsidy removal and foreign exchange reforms.
Governor Sule disclosed this on Saturday while hosting members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Presidential Media Team, led by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, at the Government House in Lafia.
The team is on a verification tour of federal and state projects across the North-Central geopolitical zone.
The governor said the reforms freed up resources that had previously been consumed by fuel and foreign exchange subsidies, allowing the state to embark on major infrastructure and human capital projects without recourse to bank loans.
“I can tell you for free, Nasarawa State is receiving an average of 14 to 16 billion every month,” Sule said, contrasting this with the ₦3.8 billion to ₦4.5 billion the state received monthly before the reforms began.
He listed a series of projects executed with the additional resources, including the Mararaba dual flyover being built for ₦16.7 billion, the dualisation of Akwanga township for ₦7.1 billion, an underpass in Akwanga for ₦6.6 billion, the Shendam Road dualisation for ₦5.6 billion, a storm drain water channel at Amba bridge for ₦3.3 billion, and the Keffi flyover project for ₦11.4 billion.
“If you calculate so far, you will see that we spend about ₦90 billion. Now, Nasarawa State, no way in the past years could think of spending this amount of money,” he said, recalling that in 2019 the state struggled for months to secure a ₦5 billion bond for a market project.
Governor Sule maintained that credit for the projects belonged to the federal government’s reforms, noting that all developments in the state were made possible without borrowing.
“All the projects we are doing in Nasarawa State today, with no borrowing from the bank, are as a result of President Bola Tinubu’s support. So you must give him the credit for that,” he said.
The governor also highlighted investments in vocational education, health infrastructure, and agriculture, including a skill acquisition centre offering training in 12 trades, a specialist hospital under construction in Akwanga, and a 10,000-hectare rice farm in the state.
Leader of the Renewed Hope Media Team, Onanuga, said the visit was aimed at verifying that resources freed by federal reforms were being deployed for their intended purposes, noting that Nasarawa State had become an industrial hub under Governor Sule’s administration.
Earlier, the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Labaran Magaji, SAN, welcomed the delegation, describing the visit as a demonstration of the strong partnership between the state and the federal governments.
