Senator Sani Musa has sympathised with victims of the floods in Minna and Shiroro, calling for urgent relief and stronger collaboration among stakeholders to prevent further loss of lives and property.

The Senator representing Niger East District, Mohammed Musa, has expressed sympathy with victims of the recent flooding caused by heavy rainfall in parts of Minna, Chanchaga, Bosso and Shiroro Local Government Areas of Niger State.

Senator Musa, in a statement, commiserated with families whose homes, businesses, farms, properties and livelihoods were affected by the disaster.

He acknowledged the hardship and uncertainty caused by the flooding and prayed for Allah’s protection, succour and strength for the affected families as they recover from the incident.

The Senator commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) for their prompt response in assessing the situation and documenting affected persons and communities.

According to him, the ongoing assessment is critical to ensuring that relief materials and other interventions are delivered to genuine victims.

Senator Sani Musa also called for sustained collaboration among government agencies, local authorities and community stakeholders to minimise the risk of further loss of lives and property.

He assured affected constituents of his support, stressing his commitment to advocating appropriate interventions to alleviate the impact of the disaster and strengthen preparedness against future flooding.

The Senator further urged the authorities to pay greater attention to flood-prone communities through improved drainage systems, effective early-warning mechanisms, proper environmental planning and sustained public sensitisation.

He also appealed to residents living in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and comply with safety advisories issued by emergency management authorities.

Senator Sani Musa prayed for the safety and well-being of the people of Niger State and urged all stakeholders to work together to prevent avoidable disasters.
