Voting was disrupted in Ejigbo, Osun State, after violence erupted at a polling area, forcing voters, residents and INEC officials to flee as tension escalated during the governorship election.

Voting has been disrupted in Ejigbo, Osun State, following an outbreak of violence at a polling area during the ongoing governorship election.

Video footage from the scene showed voters, residents and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fleeing the area as tension escalated.

INEC officials, as well as residents, were seen scampering for safety as people ran in different directions and moved away from the polling area.

Motorcycles and vehicles were also seen moving through the area as residents attempted to escape the unfolding situation.

The immediate cause of the violence was not clear, while details of possible casualties or damage could not be independently confirmed at the time of filing this report.
