Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Saturday launched the distribution of hospital equipment valued at $200,000 to general hospitals across the state.
The distribution was done under the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) Programme, a collaborative initiative between the Federal Government and development partners.
At a ceremony held at the Katsina State Medical Stores along Goruba Road, Katsina, Governor Radda described the intervention as a major boost to healthcare service delivery and a reward for the state’s commitment to health sector reforms.
The governor commended health institutions across the state, the Ministry of Health, and healthcare workers for their dedication, noting that their collective efforts enabled Katsina to qualify for the intervention.
According to him, the state’s compliance with budget performance requirements and implementation of key health sector reforms earned it the support under the SWAp programme.
Radda urged the beneficiary health facilities to ensure the equipment is properly utilised and maintained to guarantee long-term service to the people.
“The items donated to the state by the SWAp programme are worth $200,000 and will be distributed to health facilities across the state for the benefit of our most vulnerable citizens who seek medical care in our hospitals.
“We sincerely appreciate the efforts and support of our development partners for making this possible,” the governor said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system through strategic partnerships, improved infrastructure, and investments aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare services for all residents of Katsina State.
