Jigawa State Government has opened tenders for the construction of district and village heads’ offices, mosques, solar street lights and graveyard fencing across the 30 state constituencies as part of the 2026 constituency projects.
PUNCH Online learnt that the bid opening, which took place on Thursday in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, followed the approval of the 2026 budget by the Jigawa State House of Assembly.
It was gathered that the projects were captured in the 2026 Appropriation Bill passed by the Assembly on the 23rd, December, 2025 to drive rural development and improve community infrastructure across the state.
Declaring the bid open, the Chairman of the Ministerial Tender Committee and Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Administration and Finance, Office of the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Abdullahi Sa’idu, said the tender covers 2026 constituency projects.
“This tender is for the 2026 constituency projects approved in the state budget,” Abdullahi Sa’idu stated.
He explained that in addition to the construction and renovation of District and Village Heads’ offices, the projects will also include Friday and daily prayer mosques.
“In addition to mosque construction, the projects will also include the installation of solar street lights, interlocking, and construction of wall fencing for graveyards, among other initiatives,” the Permanent Secretary said.
Sa’idu therefore urged the technical committee to ensure a fair, transparent and impartial selection process for all bidders.
He, however stressed that contractors must complete the projects within the timeframe stipulated in their contractual agreements.
“The timely completion of these projects in line with contractual agreements is very important,” he added.
Moreso, the Permanent Secretary noted that the projects align with Governor Umar Namadi’s 12-point agenda aimed at improving the lives of Jigawa citizens.
He disclosed that over 40 companies are competing for the contracts, and reaffirmed government’s commitment to a credible selection process.
Also speaking at the event, the Director General, Due Process and Project Monitoring Bureau, Professor Kasim Muhammad, assured stakeholders of transparency in contractor’s selection.
“The contractors selection process will be transparent and equitable, and the technical committee must comply with the Procurement Act and Due Process laws,” Professor Muhammad said.
Represented by Quantity Surveyor Kabiru Kiyawa, the DG urged the procurement unit to ensure every contractor has detailed drawings with full specifications before mobilisation.
Commenting on behalf of the bidders, Shu’aibu Adamu of Gida Adede Nigeria Limited expressed satisfaction with the bid opening process.
He commended the government for conducting the exercise openly and pledged that successful bidders would deliver quality projects.
