Veteran Nollywood actor Ramsey Nouah has said talent alone is not enough to build a successful and lasting career, stressing that discipline and consistency are the qualities that sustain long-term success.

Speaking in an interview which was shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the 55-year-old actor reflected on his more than three decades in the film industry, saying many people mistake fame for success without understanding the hard work required behind the scenes.

“I’ve come to know and learn that talent is not enough. Discipline is what actually keeps you consistent when inspiration fails you,” Nouah said.

The actor, who has built a successful career as an actor, director and producer, said many people only see the glamour associated with fame while overlooking the sacrifices involved.

“A lot of people assume that success is like giving, but it’s not. They never see the work, the effort, the doubts and everything behind the scenes,” he said.

“They usually don’t see it, and they always think that when you’re famous, you’re successful already. That’s what it means, that’s what it takes.”

Asked whether attaining success or maintaining it is more difficult, Nouah said consistency is more important than achieving success once.

“Success is a given, but it can happen just once. Consistency is what really matters, consistency. And for you to be consistent, you need discipline,” he added.

Nouah is regarded as one of Nollywood’s most accomplished actors, with a career spanning more than 30 years.

Beyond acting, he has established himself as a filmmaker, directing and producing acclaimed projects, including Living in Bondage, while also starring in productions such as Netflix’s Blood Sisters.
