The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination(WASSCE) results and provided detailed instructions for candidates on how to check their scores online.

The council released a statement on its official X account, stating that candidates can now access their results online immediately after they retrieve their result checker PIN.

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how 2026 WAEC candidates can check their results online:

Step 1- get your serial number and PIN

Before candidates check for results, they must have their serial number, examination number, and PIN available.
WAEC released steps to retrieve the serial number and PIN in case the candidate does not have it already.
To retrieve your serial number and PIN,
1. Visit waec.org and select the “serial number and PIN” menu at the top of the page.
2. Select the appropriate examination year.
3. Enter your Examination Number and your NIN (Ensure the NIN is the same one that was used during your WAEC registration).
4. Enter your Email and Phone Number to generate a one-time password (OTP)
5. Input the OTP to successfully recover your Serial Number and PIN.

WAEC also stated that candidates can download their WAEC ID Cards on their mobile devices.

Step 2- Go to the WAEC result portal on your mobile device

Candidates must type WAEC’s result checker, www.waecdirect.org, on their devices.

Step 3- Put in your examination number

Candidates must input the 10-digit examination number assigned to them. It is made up of the 7-digit center number followed by the 3-digit candidate number. For example: 4123456789

Step 4- Put in your examination year
For 2026 candidates, enter 2026.

Step 5- Put in the type of examination

Candidates must ensure they select the suitable examination type in order to get the correct information.

Step 6- Select your serial number and PIN.

Candidates must enter the serial number and then the PIN they retrieved from the WAEC portal earlier.

Step 7- Submit

Press submit.

After following these steps, the candidate’s results should be displayed on the device. Printing of the results is recommended for future reference and endeavours.
