The APC and its Osun governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, have dismissed reports that they challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election at the Election Petition Tribunal, describing the purported filing as false and misleading.

As controversy rages over the petition reportedly filed against the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke before the Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo, the Governorship Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun State, on Tuesday dismissed the development as false and mischievous.
It maintained that neither the party nor its gubernatorial candidate during the August 15 governorship poll, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, submitted any petition before the tribunal.
A statement signed by the head, media and publicity of the Campaign Council, Remi Omowaiye, declared that the purported petition was orchestrated by some disgruntled individuals desperate to mislead and hoodwink members of the public.
Omowaiye contended that reports claiming that the APC and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), have filed a petition challenging the outcome of the August 15, 2026 governorship election at the Election Petition Tribunal were baseless and product of false narrative.
It is recalled that one legal practitioner, identified as Oluseyi Oyagbile, had filed petition against Adeleke at the Election Tribunal, in Osogbo, claiming he received a brief from Oyebamiji’s running mate, Kayode Adereti to submit the documents.
However, while responding to the claim, Omowaiye said “we state categorically that neither the APC nor its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) filed any petition at the tribunal challenging the outcome of the August 15 governorship election.
According to him, “the purported claim is therefore completely untrue and should be regarded as nothing more than a rumour being circulated by individuals seeking to mislead members of the public and create unnecessary tension.
“We urge members of the public, supporters of our great party and the media to discountenance the claim and refrain from giving credibility to unverified information designed to cause confusion.
“The APC and Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji remain committed to lawful and democratic processes and will continue to act responsibly in the interest of peace, stability and the good people of Osun State.
“We urge the public to rely only on official statements from the APC and the Campaign Council on matters concerning the party, its candidate and the outcome of the August 15 governorship election, “Omowaiye remarked.
