Governor Dikko Radda says the 2027 budget will fund the upgrade of the agripreneurship training centre in Dutsin-Ma and expand enrolment from one to three trainees per ward across Katsina State.
The expansion is expected to raise the number of beneficiaries to over 1,000 young agripreneurs, reinforcing the administration’s drive to boost agricultural productivity, create jobs and promote self-reliance.
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has announced plans to expand the state’s Agripreneurship Training Programme.
Governor Radda disclosed this on Wednesday during an inspection visit to the training centre, where he assessed ongoing activities and evaluated the institution’s needs.
He revealed that the 2027 budget would provide funds to upgrade the Agripreneurship Training Centre in Dutsin-Ma and increase enrolment from one to three trainees per ward across the state.
The expansion is expected to raise the number of beneficiaries to over 1,000 young agripreneurs, reinforcing the administration’s drive to boost agricultural productivity, create jobs and promote self-reliance.
He explained that the visit was to ensure the centre delivers quality training and receives the necessary support to achieve its objectives.
The governor urged participants to remain committed, disciplined and courageous, stressing that the programme is designed to produce successful agripreneurs who will become employers of labour rather than job seekers.
He assured the trainees of the government’s continued support, pledging to equip them with the tools and opportunities needed to establish thriving agricultural enterprises and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Lawal Shargelle, urged the trainees to appreciate the vision behind the initiative, describing them as agents of transformation for their respective communities.
He encouraged them to embrace the training with dedication, acquire practical skills and return to their wards to mentor others, create jobs and strengthen grassroots agricultural development.
The governor was received by members of the State Executive Council, the coordinator of the Agricultural Development Programme, the Chairman of Dutsin-Ma Local Government, the village head of Makera, and heads of relevant government agencies.
On Wednesday, Governor Radda signed the Katsina State 2027 Appropriation Bill into law, paving the way for the implementation of a ₦828.58 billion budget aimed at sustaining development across the state.
The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasiru Daura, formally presented the Appropriation Law to the governor for assent.
He disclosed that the Assembly approved a total budget of ₦828,578,844,091.48, comprising ₦190,726,262,820.44 for recurrent expenditure and ₦637,852,581,271.03 for capital expenditure.
