Okonkwo also said that he did not oppose the emergence of a former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as Atiku’s running mate.

Spokesperson for the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, and lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has said that the party remains the surest path to an Igbo Presidency, alleging that Peter Obi is working against the course.
“Peter Obi is the one who is now working against Igbo presidency and vice presidency because he came to the ADC on his own, and he said he was going to contest under the ADC, and he left about just one week to the close of time,” Okonkwo said on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday when asked about his consistent opposition to Obi.

The lawyer said the emergence of a former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as Atiku’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election made him more convinced that ADC is the surest way to achieve an Igbo presidency.
“I am talking about geopolitical balancing because Amaechi is Igbo; he is already the vice presidential candidate. And that is why I am saying that is what makes me to even become more favourably disposed that ADC is the surest path to Igbo presidency,” he said.
Okonkwo also said he did not oppose Amaechi’s emergence as Atiku’s running mate.
According to him, Amaechi is Igbo and will become Nigeria’s vice president after the 2027 presidential election.
