Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Tuesday, July 28, 2026, a work-free day for public servants across the state to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of upcoming elections.
The directive applies to all categories of state public servants, including local government workers and staff of tertiary institutions.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
According to the statement, the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina, conveyed the governor’s approval through a circular distributed across the public service.
Aina explained that the work-free day was approved to allow public servants fulfil their civic responsibility by obtaining their PVCs in preparation for the forthcoming governorship election and future electoral exercises in the state.
The circular, however, exempted personnel engaged in essential services, including healthcare workers and security personnel. Such workers were advised to make internal arrangements to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and avoid disruptions that could affect residents.
Governor Adeleke urged public servants and other eligible voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so without delay, stressing the importance of voter participation in shaping the future of the state.
“I encourage all registered voters to visit the designated collection centres without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter card is your access to the ballot paper and, by extension, the ballot box,” the governor said.
