Governor Bala Mohammed has warned newly appointed commissioners against misusing public funds, stressing that their actions and conduct in office will be closely monitored to ensure accountability, transparency, and responsible governance.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has warned newly appointed commissioners against misappropriating public funds, urging them to manage the state’s resources prudently and channel them into projects and programmes that will benefit the people.
The governor stressed that their actions and conduct in office would be closely monitored to ensure accountability and transparency.
Governor Mohammed gave the warning during the swearing-in ceremony of four newly appointed commissioners, following their screening and confirmation by the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
He explained that the appointments became necessary following the resignation of some political appointees seeking elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections, in compliance with legal requirements, which created vacancies in the State Executive Council.
During the ceremony, the governor assigned portfolios to the new commissioners and approved the reassignment of some serving commissioners to different ministries.
The newly appointed commissioners are Madaki Gololo, Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives; Bashir Yau, Ministry of Youth and Sports; Bashir Rishi, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs; and Baraya Ibrahim, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment.
The governor also reassigned some serving commissioners. Adamu Gabarin was moved to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan to the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties, while Muhammad Shira was redeployed to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
Similarly, Hassan Eliyakub (SAN) and Usman Usman retained their positions as commissioners overseeing the Ministries of Local Government and Water Resources, respectively.
After administering the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance, Governor Mohammed urged the commissioners to uphold accountability, transparency, and due process. He also charged them to work closely with permanent secretaries and remain committed to implementing programmes that will improve infrastructure, create employment opportunities, and enhance the living standards of the people.
The governor also used the occasion to reassure the people of Bauchi State of his administration’s commitment to improving their welfare despite nearing the end of his tenure.
“Even in the twilight of our administration, we will not relent in making the lives of the people better,” he said.
Governor Mohammed highlighted recent initiatives of his administration, noting that they have created employment opportunities and strengthened security across the state.
