Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to commission 10 projects across the state, with the developments spanning roads, healthcare, education and aviation as part of efforts to strengthen infrastructure and public services.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to commission a series of major infrastructure projects across the state as part of his administration’s efforts to expand critical infrastructure and improve access to public services.

The commissioning programme, according to the Rivers State Government, will commence on Monday, August 17, and continue through Monday, August 28, 2026, with projects spread across several local government areas.

The projects cut across roads, healthcare, education, and aviation.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, disclosed this at an inter-ministerial press briefing, describing the projects as tangible evidence of the administration’s commitment to transforming communities and delivering projects with direct benefits to residents.

The programme will begin with the commissioning of the Buguma-Degema-Abonnema Road on Monday, August 17.

The road links communities across the Asari-Toru, Degema and Akuku-Toru Local Government Areas and is expected to improve transportation and connectivity within the riverine axis.

On Tuesday, August 18, Governor Fubara will commission the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche Local Government Area, while two projects will be commissioned at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola in Obio/Akpor LGA.

On Thursday, August 20, the governor will commission the Elele-Egbema, Omoku road, cutting across Ikwerre, Emohua and Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Areas of the state.

On Friday, August 21, Governor Fubara will commission a zonal hospital in Omoku, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni, while on Monday, August 24, it will be the turn for the Omademe internal road network in Ikwerre Local Government Area, followed on Tuesday, August 25, by the New Air Force Base Runway in Port Harcourt.

Another major highlight of the programme is the Agba Ndele Road and Bridge in Ndele, Emohua Local Government Area, to be commissioned on Wednesday, August 26. The commissioning of the Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital and New General Hospital, Rumuigbo, both in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, will be on Thursday, August 27

The two health facilities are among the key projects with the potential to expand access to specialised and general healthcare services for residents.

The commissioning programme will conclude on Friday, August 28, with the commissioning of the Bonny National Grammar School in Bonny Local Government Area.
