The Allied People’s Movement (APM) says it has developed a comprehensive governance blueprint aimed at revitalising the productive sector, rebuilding critical infrastructure, reviving the economy, pulling the country back from the brink, and improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party said the blueprint would also overhaul the nation’s security architecture, curb terrorism, and guarantee the security of lives and property across the country.

“It is tragic that in the last 10 years, and especially in the last three years, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has governed Nigeria without a coherent economic blueprint, resulting in confused, careless and rudderless governance characterised by massive corruption and reckless anti-people policies.

“This has led to biting economic hardship, hyper-unemployment, skyrocketing inflation, collapsed infrastructure and widespread insecurity.

“Largely due to the APC government’s failures, in the last three years alone, official and independent reports indicate that no fewer than 628,000 Nigerians have been killed, while over 2.2 million others, including women and children, have been abducted. The poverty rate has hit a staggering 63 per cent, with unemployment standing at over 33.3 per cent. More than 140 million Nigerians now live below the national poverty line.

“Due to worsening insecurity, a collapsed public service and economic inflation exacerbated by unhealthy taxes and tariffs, major multinationals have been exiting our nation in droves. Over 3.7 million Nigerian youths and professionals have fled the country in what is now known as the ‘Japa’ phenomenon, resulting in the worst brain drain ever, especially in the education and health sectors.”

The party said it was concerned that despite Nigeria’s vast resources and large population, poverty, unemployment and inflation continue to rise.

It noted that the cost of basic goods and services has become increasingly unaffordable, leaving many families unable to meet their daily needs and other basic necessities of life.

“More distressing is that the future of over 250 million Nigerians is being mortgaged to foreign interests by the APC through reckless borrowing, which has hit a frightening N159.28 trillion, with nothing on the ground to show for it, as most of the proceeds are reported to have been diverted to private purses.

“Today, our nation is in dire straits. Nigerians are heavily frustrated and agitated over bad leadership and are earnestly seeking a new beginning. It is clear that the APM, with its ideological base, structure and composition, is the only platform that embodies that solution and new beginning.”

According to the party, its blueprint offers a transparent and people-centred approach to governance, with emphasis on inclusive development, prudent resource management, industrialisation, youth employment, infrastructure development, efficient public service and sustainable prosperity.

“APM’s blueprint comes with a new and transparent approach to governance. An approach that puts Nigerians first, prioritising inclusive human development and well-being through people-oriented policies and prudent management of resources that guarantee security of lives and property, industrialisation, massive youth employment, national infrastructural revolution, efficient public service and sustainable prosperity for all.

“The APM blueprint is service-oriented, forward-looking and tailored to put Nigerians back to work, attract foreign direct investment and boost private-sector productivity through strategic investments in critical sectors, including oil and gas, power, electricity, agriculture and food production, manufacturing, education, housing and healthcare, among others.”

The party also said the blueprint contains strict anti-corruption measures and strong accountability mechanisms.

“Also, importantly, the APM blueprint offers strict checks against corruption and policy opacity, with unbending rules for accountability to the people.”

It assured Nigerians that the comprehensive blueprint would be unveiled at the appropriate time as the party prepares to contest for power in 2027.

“Nigerians are assured that, at the right time, the comprehensive blueprint will be unveiled as the APM poises to democratically take over the helm of affairs of our country in 2027.

“In government, the APM will be a listening party, committed to transparency, good governance, social justice, adherence to the rule of law, freedom of speech, respect for the rights of citizens and the overall well-being of all Nigerians.”
