Former Accord presidential candidate Chris Imumolen has endorsed APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji ahead of the Osun governorship election, days after withdrawing from the 2027 presidential race and declaring his support for President Bola Tinubu.

Former presidential candidate of the Accord Party (A), Chris Imumolen, has thrown his weight behind the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, days before the Osun governorship election.
Imumolen announced the decision during the APC Mega Rally for the Osun Governorship Election held in Osogbo on Thursday.
“As the national chairman of the Accord Party, today – and my working committee member, they are all here – we have stepped down our support for Ademola Adeleke, and today we declare our support for AMBO [Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji],” the former presidential candidate, who also is the national chairman of one group in the Accord Party, said at the rally in the capital of Osun.
“Come on Saturday, all Accord members in Osun State should go to the polling units and vote for AMBO.”
His decision came after the Accord Party, under the Maxwell Mgbudem-led executives, endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid. The Mgbudem group is recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Just last week, Imumolen backed out of the 2027 presidential election and declared his backing for President Bola Tinubu. According to him, the decision is based on the need to ensure stability, unity and development of the country.
He said the move came following his assessment of Tinubu’s leadership and the administration’s reforms.
