Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has relaxed the curfew in Mubi to encourage economic activities, commending residents for their cooperation and compliance with the initial measures that contributed to restoring peace in the area.

Adamawa is located in Nigeria’s North-East region.

The governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, has approved the relaxation of the curfew earlier imposed on Mubi Local Government Area as part of efforts to restore normalcy and maintain public order.

This was made known in a press release issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Humwashi Wonosikou.

Following a review of the security situation in the commercial hub, the curfew hours have now been adjusted. Effective immediately, the curfew for vehicular movement, including tricycles and electric bicycles, will be from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am daily. Persons on foot are permitted to move until 10:00 pm pending further directives from the government.

Governor Fintiri commended the good people of Mubi for their cooperation and compliance with the initial curfew regime, which contributed greatly to the restoration of peace in the area.

The governor noted that Mubi, being one of the major commercial cities in Adamawa State and the North-East sub-region, plays a critical role in trade, agriculture, and cross-border commerce. He stressed that sustaining peace is necessary for businesses to thrive, markets to remain open, and for residents to go about their legitimate businesses without fear.

“Government is committed to protecting lives and property while also ensuring that economic activities are not unduly disrupted. I urge all residents to continue to cooperate with security agencies and to be vigilant. Let us keep the peace in Mubi for the overall interest of our people and the prosperity of our businesses,” Governor Fintiri said.

He, however, warned miscreants and criminal elements to stay clear of Mubi and desist from acts capable of breaching the peace.

“Anyone found engaging in criminal activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law. Government will not fold its arms and allow a few individuals to jeopardise the peace we have worked hard to restore,” he added.

The governor reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to work with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women groups to consolidate the gains made in security and ensure that Mubi remains safe and conducive for commerce.
